Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. In this class, students will be guided on how they can use tennis balls to apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia using their own body weight and movement.
Fascia is less fluid as compared to muscle. Hence the need for long static holds, to allow the water molecules to realign in the body.
Following the usage of the tennis balls to release the tension in the targeted areas, the student will then be guided into Yin Yoga postures in order to stress the tissues in the target area so as to increase circulation and improve flexibility. Stillness in each posture is observed for 3 to 5mins.
This is a slow-paced therapeutic class and each session will focus in-depth on selected parts of the body.
