1) When and how did you first start practising?
My first yoga practice started during my pregnancy 10 years ago. I have always been into active sports. Yoga was logic sense to me to slow down and support such important and gentle time during women’s life. I have continued my practice with hot yoga after giving birth, looking for active and immediate cleansing effect.
2) How you feel or what did you think after that first time?
I enjoyed the benefits of feeling fresh and relaxed after each class, yet it took me sometime to get used to calming the mind and stay in postures for longer period.
Only dedicated practice had shown me the real benefits of yoga.
3) What inspired you to teach? And why do you continue to teach?
I have tried many styles of yoga and have been inspired by all of them. And my Elemental Yoga teacher training was life changing, that allowed me to experience true nature within me.
That’s when the abundance of this connection to Nature gave me a calling to share it with others.
Seeing loosening of people’s body’s and lightening up of their faces gives me unlimited joy.
4) How has your practice affected your life and perspective on it?
I wouldn’t be shy to say that yoga has changed my whole life. Physically I started to feel so connected to my body, learnt listening to it more and realisation of yoga being not a physical aspect, but rather a tool to make my mind stronger and balance my whole being, making me continue to enjoy practice this ancient knowledge.
5) Share something fun about Katya.
I love to have a real laugh before I go to sleep 🙂 Unknowingly it has become my almost daily laughing meditation for quite a few years now.
Sometimes it’s not something specific that makes me laugh, rather just laughing without a reason. Something that gives me great joy of being in the moment 🙏
Join Katya on Mondays 8:30am.
