VYASA Yoga Instructor Certificate Course (YICC)
What is YICC?
A certificate program designed by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (sVYASA), a famous Yoga University whose work has a presence in 20 countries worldwide, with collaborative research projects in the U.S.A and U.K (www.svyasa.org)
YICC will train the student systematically in Yoga Instruction techniques. This course integrates various important aspects of Yoga-Asanas (postures), Pranayamas (breathing techniques), Kriyas(cleansing techniques), the essence of Yogic Literature and Philosophy into a holistic composite, thus enabling the student to understand the knowledge of Yoga in its entirety. The course is truly insightful and empowering, designed not only to impart techniques of teaching Yoga but also to facilitate learner to begin his or her own journey of self-awareness and development.

Structure of YICC
The structure of YICC is based on more than 30 years of in-depth study in the field of Yoga and Spirituality by S-VYASA. Research behind this Certification Program largely follows the direction given by Swami Vivekananda, who pronounced that we need to combine the best of West (modern scientific research) with the best of the East (Yoga and spiritual lore) to bring a grand harmony and peace on earth.
The objective of conducting Yoga Instructor Certificate Course throughout the world is to bring forth the holistic vision and spiritual lore of Yoga into one’s life. The result would be a positive physical health, mental strength, peace, harmony leading to efficiency and growth. It aims to help solve problems of modern society and build ideal social orders.

– Teaching Techniques (8 – Steps method)
Part 2 – Yoga Practices
– Breathing Practices
– Loosening Practices
– Yogasanas – basic set of Yoga Postures (standing, sitting, prone & supine)
– Relaxation techniques (IRT, QRT, DRT)
– Cyclic Meditation
– Kriyas (Cleansing Techniques for nostrils and stomach)
– Mudras and Bandhas
– Teaching Techniques Practices
Part 3 – Field Training: 120 hours Teaching Practice
Each student has to complete 120 hours of teaching yoga under the guidance of a certified yoga instructor. This can be completed within one month to two years, depending on the dedication and time commitment of the student.
There are many daily Yoga classes at Art of Yoga and VYASA studio (Little India). Here students can come and become an assistant yoga teacher and complete his/her hours with any senior Yoga teacher.
Upon completing the 120 hours, the student will be rewarded with his/ her certificate, acknowledged by the Vice Chancellor of S-VYASA. This certificate is internationally recognized and is certified by S-VYASA, Bangalore India.
Part 4- Field Report on any suitable Yoga subject
Every student has to prepare a report on Yoga related topic like Yoga for children, Yoga for health, Yoga and excercise etc.
About the Trainer
Yoga Master Mr. Manoj Thakur:
Mr. Manoj Thakur – the Yoga Master (M.S.c in Yogic Sciences)
He has been a full time Yoga Teacher since 20 years and currently working as managing director for Vyasa Yoga Singapore. He was the head of the Yoga department in the MDS University of Ajmer, Rajasthan, India for 4 years. He was the chief Yoga Therapist consultant at the “Cancer Hospital and Research Centre” of Gwalior, India. He was a faculty member and a sought after instructor in the Vivekananda Yoga University (sVYASA, the most renowned Yoga University), Bangalore, India.
During this period/these years, he has conducted many International Yoga Conferences at various places in India such as Bangalore, Delhi, Rishikesh and Singapore in the capacity of the Organising Secretary. Since about a decade he has been centred in Singapore and So far, he has trained more than 1500 Yoga Instructors from various countries.
He has been regularly offering various courses such as Yoga Instructor Course, Yoga Therapy course etc. He has also been conducting various Yoga therapy classes, Yoga workshops, Stress management programmes, International Yoga Conferences etc.
The first part of the course (80 hours) will be held at:

Field training (120 hours) can be conducted in whole or in part at Art of Yoga.
